1998 ARCHIVE - WT v LBC Football Match

From time to time football matches between Windhorse, and most often the London Buddhist Centre are arranged. On this particular occasion in 1998 the result was a decisive win for Windhorse.

1997 ARCHIVE - Satyaloka's Leaving Do

Satyaloka
After many many years devoted to the development of the then Windhorse Trading, Satyaloka decided it was time to move on. Here's a few snaps from his leaving do.

1990 ARCHIVE- A Trade Show

This single photo from 1990 gives this Trade Show Stand a rather improvised amateurish appearance. We're still using the black metal stands though.

1985 ARCHIVE- A Trade Show

Amoghacitta
Trade Shows, particularly at the NEC, are now an established and extremely important part of our business year.  But this photo is from 1985 is when we were just getting a handle on how to set up and do them. It's one of our first using our black metal display units. These remained as the basis of our Trade Show Stand for a further decade or more. Gradually over the years the standard of our merchandising displays has improved. This one does, however, look a little 'sparse', perhaps it's meant to be a bit Zen like.

1989-1993 ARCHIVE - Those Fulbourn Days

Some very early photos from when we had a small warehouse out at Fulbourne.
These are the days when everyone who worked for the business
could still fit around one table.
That said, they do look tight for space.

2011 ARCHIVE - Show Of Hands - Painting Project

From the 22nd November 2010, after Sangha Day, Vidyavajra has been engaged in a large painting project for the business. Initially it was part of a series of Sangha / community building initiatives, encouraging the expression of gratitude or appreciation to people, past or present, who've contributed in to the character and success of the business. This involved Photo Walls where old photos of people and the business could be stuck up, Post Boxes and 'Gratitude' Walls where written expressions could be privately or publicly posted. The painting project, entitled A Show Of Hands, involved collecting 108 hand-outlines from a broad section of people working for Windhorse. These were then assembled on a large painting, 5 x 11/2 metres, that was completed just after Parinirvana Day - 18th February 2011.

This is the largest painting Vidyavajra has ever attempted. Work on it has been spread over three months, and required over 100+ hours of work to collect, paint and complete all 108 hand-outlines. Our hands are a thing we hold in common, they are also what distinguishes us from each other. The Show Of Hands hanging is an attempt in a very simple way to visually represent the individual and collective efforts of those who work at Windhorse. The completed painting now hangs facing the entrance to the Warehouse.

1998 ARCHIVE - Dave Runnacles 50th Birthday Party

Celebrating peoples birthdays is a long, and much valued Windhorse tradition. Any excuse to rejoice in a person's merits, entertain them with music, and eat cake in their honour. Sometimes it has to be said the presence of cake can overshadow the main attraction. But the celebrations here from 1998 for Dave Runnacles 50th Birthday at our old warehouse in Coral Park, look rousing and heartfelt.

1998 ARCHIVE - The Windhorse Panto - Monkey

Have fun looking for the familiar faces in this Panto from 1998, in what looks like a fairly free adaption of the traditional 'Monkey' tale.

1998 ARCHIVE - Saluting The Shrines Ritual

These are photographs taken thirteen years ago, from when we were in our old warehouse in Coral Park, which meandered over four warehouse units. This led to shrines spontaneously arising all over the place. This Saluting The Shrines ritual from 1998, shows the extent that the Coral Park warehouse, over the years we were there, became like a huge ramshackle temple, surrounded by racking and stock.
