2002 ARCHIVE - Making a Stupa - Part 1

Rupadarshan (Rod Drew) began work making a Stupa for our new warehouse, months before we were to move in. A stone carver by training, he wasn't going to be able to use stone on this occasion. Instead he had to invent a whole new way of building one. This consisted on making a clay version, which a mould was then made of, which was used to cast the final thing. He had a few disasters along the way, but persevered. He found a strong form of resin called Jesmonite, that came in a stone finish, which is what the final mould was cast in.
