2011 ARCHIVE - Dharma Wall & Dharma Dip

As a warm up to Dharma Day on Friday 15th July, we had two things happening, the Dharma Wall and Dharma Dip. The Dharma Wall, displayed the Prattitya Samutpada verses accompanied with some visual symbolism, across the Dining Room's glass partition. The aim being to help communicate the essence of this fundamental, yet complex, teaching of the Buddha's, in a simple and direct manner.

In addition, there was The Dharma Dip, developed by Vidyavajra from the germ of an idea of Kavyasiddhi's. It was exactly like a Lucky Dip, only in this case what you pulled out would be one of 108 quotes, largely drawn from The Udana, Sutta Nipata, Dhammapada and other bits of the Pali Canon. There were 324 individual bags,all contained a teaching with some beads & a jewel, and two thirds of them had a sweet too! That said, all the quotes containing the sweets managed to be picked out first. Ah,craving is such a motivator!  It was light hearted fun, accessible to everyone, yet it also provoked more than one or two discussions about the details of a teaching over lunch.
